“I hate the Lake District looking shabby. Priorities!”

Dear Editor,

The iconic and much-photographed Bridge House, here in Ambleside, has been closed since before the first lockdown. It looks a bit forlorn. The Trust is now appealing for funds to restore it. It’s a small building and the cost should not be high. Would it not have been better to spend members’ money on this, rather than on highly-paid academics to dig the dirt on the Trust’s benefactors?

I walked through NT land today and couldn’t help noticing the gates and fencing needing repair or replacement. I hate the Lake District looking shabby. Priorities!

Keep up the good work, Restore Trust.
