‘Flexing the mansion experience’ – the leaked report

The National Trust has lost faith in itself as the guardian of fine and interesting country houses and their collections.

This report offers a superficial and confused vision of the future of the National Trust, where houses are no longer on show to the public and objects are placed in storage.

It shows a poor understanding of what matters to members, visitors and supporters, as well as an alarming lack of focus on the mission of the charity.

Members have a right to ask whether this potentially damaging set of proposals was a good use of their money.
